Well, its safe to say that moving back to California was the best decision i've made in a long long time! It took next to no time at all to start reconnecting with all of my old favorite people and get shooting again. The blogs, will start rolling in soon once I catch up on the backlog.
This week I had my old friend and amazing Yoga Guru - Arielle E. come by to visit, catch up, have her explain some of the finer points of Yoga for me, a photoshoot, and of course, a good bottle of wine! Oh, did I mention the photoshoot?
I'm getting some insane sunset light in my apartment so it'd be a sin to not shoot with it! For this series we simply did a relaxed set with no light other than the sun, (until it went down, then I dragged out my Profoto B2's and Photek Softlighters), and my Nikon D800 with the Sigma A Series 35mm f/1.4 since I was going to be shooting low to the ground and close in a small room where I wanted to show a full range of motion,
Grabbing the first few frames while Arielle stretched and warmed up in the sun, we managed to get some pretty awesome & challenging yoga poses as the light started to dance behind the sky rises in downtown San Diego. So I pulled out my lights, Arielle did a quick outfit change, and we started shooting in rapid fire for some more beauty and boudoir looks! This was kind of a test shoot for us both, to see what I could do with my space, how long i'd have with my "golden hour" light, and more experimenting around my current space....basically just planting a seed to make me want to shoot all day every day! (Hint hint...you should book me now! haha)
One of the things I love about my Profoto B2 kit is how light they are, how powerful they are for the size, how I can quickly make adjustments to the power right from my camera using the Air TTL Controller, and more importantly, because of the portability, how quickly I can move and reposition them! In those last few moments of dusk, I think we moved and changed outfits and repositioned my light at least a 1/2 dozen times to chase the light across the front of my apartment! BUT, as you can see from the images and gallery below, we managed to capture not only some beautiful light, but some incredibly gorgeous images and poses of a very talented young San Diego model and Yoga Instructor!
Enjoy the rest of the images from the series below.
